Accessibility and universal design services.
One Queen Street Redevelopment, Auckland
Jones Consultancy provided accessibility services as part of the design team for the 23 storey tower containing a luxury hotel, dining and hospitality, and office space and which is part of the wider Commercial Bay development.
Engaged by Warren and Mahoney Architects to provide accessibility advice and universal design recomendations during the developed and detailed design stages of the project, the building, which includes stylish and accessible guest accommodation, offers facilities to serve visitors and staff as independently as possible regardless of ability.
New Recreation and Wellness Centre for University of Auckland
In collaboration with Be.Lab, Jones Consultancy was the lead accessibility advisor undertaking reviews of the design documentation at the key project stages of preliminary, developed and detailed design.
Working towards the goal of universal design and optimal access to and within all levels of the building, Colleen worked closely with the joint architectural team of Warren and Mahoney Architects and MJMA (MacLennan Jaukains Miller Architects), a Canadian based architectural firm with expertise in recreational facilities.
Facilities in the new building will be as accessible and inclusive as possible for students, staff, the public and visiting sports teams, including for para athletic teams.
New Innovation Complex teaching / learning building for Massey University Albany Campus
Teaming with Be.Lab, Jones Consultancy reveiwed detailed design documentation for this building as part of a wider focus by Massey University for improving accessibility across the campus.
Despite not being involved until the latter end of the design process, recommendations to improve access and usability were able to be included in the plans.
Hillmorton Hospital Specialist Mental Health Services Buildings
This project includes two new buildings for the Hillmorton Hospital Campus in Christchurch.
The Integrated Family Services Centre and the High and Complex Needs buildings are purpose designed by Klein Architects for the provision of specialist medical services. Jones Consultancy worked closely with Klein and the Canterbury District Health Board to ensure minimum requirements for accessibility were met for the two buildings. Just as importantly universal design, while prioritising patient health and safety, was championed.
